A gun rack for the border country
Bordertown Guns is named for the line of towns that sits against the Canadian line: Houlton at the end of the interstate, Calais on the St. Croix, Madawaska and Fort Kent up in the St. John valley, Jackman out on Route 201. Bangor is the hinge they all turn on, and it is where most of eastern Maine's gun trade still passes through.
What people buy here has not changed much. A lever gun or a short bolt rifle in .30-30, .308 or .30-06 for the November woods, because shots in spruce and fir come close and fast. A 12 gauge that works for grouse in October, ducks in November and slugs in the shotgun towns. A .22 for the camp. A compact 9mm, because Maine has allowed permitless carry since 2015.
